We have recently received questions regarding use of a non-embedded ASL interpreter on the ISAT. Currently this accommodation is not allowable according to the Usability, Accessibility, and Accommodations Guidelines (UAAG) document. However, we are aware that some students who are deaf or hard of hearing may not adequately access the ISAT using the embedded ASL accommodation. The non-embedded or human ASL interpreter accommodation may be available to students with approval by submitting the Special Accommodations Request Form. All special requests will be subject to approval by State Department of Education Staff.
If you have questions regarding use or approval of the non-embedded ASL interpreter accommodation on the ISAT, please email Brianna Lynch.
