Proctoring Update

Sep 14, 2023

We have an important update regarding teachers proctoring the ISATs. Initially, flexibility was given to districts to allow teachers to proctor their own students on the ISATs to reduce the spread of COVID-19, as indicated in previous versions of the Integrity Guide. This is no longer the case this year. On May 11, 2023, the CDC declared the end of the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency.

Moving forward, teachers are not to proctor their own students in the subject they teach. This means that a middle school ELA teacher could proctor their own students in Math or Science. A science teacher could proctor ELA or Math. A PE teacher could proctor any assessment, as long as the test they are proctoring does not correspond with the subject they teach. This guidance is updated in the current Assessment Integrity Guide.
