Usability, Accessibility, and Accommodations FAQs /core/fileparse.php/1519/urlt/usability-accessibility-and-accommodations-guidelines-faq.pdf
Updated September 26, 2019

The Usability, Accessibility, and Accommodations Guidelines (UAAG) provides an overview of the universal tools, designated supports, and accommodations allowable on the all ISAT assessments.  Although this is a Smarter Balanced document that speaks specifically to the  English language arts/literacy and mathematics (math) assessments, it is also applicable to the ISAT science assessment. The Guidelines are intended for school-level personnel and decision-making teams, particularly Individualized Education Program (IEP), 504 Plan, and English Learning Plan (ELP) teams, as they prepare for and administer the ISAT. The Guidelines provide information for classroom teachers, English development educators, special education teachers, and related services personnel to use in selecting and administering universal tools, designated supports, and accommodations for those students who need them. The Guidelines are also intended for assessment staff and administrators who oversee the decisions that are made in instruction and assessment.

The Accessibility Resources Comparison provides a reference comparing the changes in the UAAG from for the 2018-19 and 2019-20 Operational Test Administration.

The ELA/Literacy & Math Resources and Practice Comparison Crosswalk can be used  by teachers and IEP teams in the field to help identify similarities between the assessment resources and classroom practices. The Crosswalk details the tools and supports available in our assessments and assists educators and decision-makers by providing a description of both the resource and its classroom equivalent.  Although this document is specific to the Smarter Balances ELA and math assessment, the content is applicable to the ISAT science, as well.

The Usability, Accessibility, and Accommodations FAQs serves as a companion to the UAAG.  It answers frequently asked questions about the  universal tools, designated supports, and accommodations allowable on the all ISAT assessments.
